Padnendadlu Graduate Bursaries
For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australian women towards the completion of either a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate at a South Australian university.
Applicants:
- Must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women,
- Must be undertaking a Graduate Diploma or Certificate at a South Australian university,
- Must not be employed full-time, or on fully-paid study leave,
- Must have a good undergraduate academic record,
- Must not have received a Padnendadlu Graduate scholarship in 2011.
The bursaries may be used for the purchase or hire of equipment, fees incurred because of study commitments, short-term assistance with living expenses or any other purpose that will assist with the completion of a graduate qualification. Note that if the bursary is to be used for the purchase of equipment, the equipment must be for the personal possession and use of the applicant, not of her University department. The Bursary must be used within twelve months of the date of the award, i.e. by the end of June 2013.
Selection of winners is based primarily on academic merit, but also on financial need, the importance of the purpose for which the bursary will be used to the progress or completion of the diploma or certificate, community activities and other interests.
The amount of the bursary will not exceed $2,000 but may be less depending on the requirements of the successful applicant. More than one bursary may be offered if enough funds are available. No one will be awarded more than one bursary in any one year. In exceptional circumstances the trustees of The AFUW-SA Inc. Trust Fund reserve the right not to award a bursary.
Until 2009 funds for these bursaries were raised annually by the Academic Hoods and Gowns Hiring Service run on a voluntary basis by the trustees, members of The AFUW-SA Inc. and friends. Funds are now sourced from investments and donations.
Your application must reach the Trust Fund's secretarial service by 30 March, 2012.
